My laptop has a built-in camera and I wanna get people's reaction to what is going on on the screen. Should be a fun project.

Where should I start? I've got 2GB of memory and on a Core Duo CPU for 1-5mins of video so I don't think simultaneous recording will be a problem. What software should I use? How can I combine the two into one vid without expensive software (I have WME9 but I din't see the option.)

I know that Camtasia Studio can record regions of the screen so that should do the recording their reactions. As for the other thing, http://www.fakewebcam.com it shows recorded video's as your webcam stream.

I don't know of any all in one solution for what you want to do, but both of those 2 programs together will.

Hypersnap-DX can do a screen (or region) capture in option selected time frames.
(every second if you like)

So, you could design it so the video and cam are both on the laptop screen for capture.
