"Reconditioning" my SSD

So I'm about to upgrade to Sandy Bridge and I already have a 50gb Vertex 2. Its performance seems to be on the low side lately and have read about a way to wipe it that will get performance back to where it should be. I can't remember where I read it. Any idea?

From OCZ forum sticky
2 TRIM does not work like it does on an Indilinx drive as Duraclass controlls TRIM, this means you will not get the speed back as an Indilinx drive does as this would mean a very high write amplification...drives would wear out in months

3 Secure erase a drive every 6 months to free up previously read only blocks, secure erase every 2 days to get round Duraclass and you will kill the drive very quickly

Looks like Sandforce controller drives do lose performance over time that never comes back, unless you secure erase it. However, secure erase reduces lifespan of drive.

If you want to secure erase, OCZ forums has instructions.
