Reconditioning Batteries?

I have a not so old HP Pavilion zu1155 laptop that I really like (and so does my son, who's using it now that I got a new r40 from work). But the battery life is down to like 2 minutes. Since it's used mostly when plugged in, that's not much of a problem. But it would be nice to be able to hit the coffee shop with it once in a while.

Is there any way at all to get it to start working more like it should? Replacements for this particular model aren't available from HP (at least I couldn't find it on their site), and the aftermarket refurbished ones are expensive.
