I have heard ups and downs about overstock refurbs. Might be taken a gamble, but its still a good price.

I purchased a refurb 3rd gen iPod without any problems. You still get a year warranty just as though you are buying new. I've had it for over a year now.

As long as this refurbed by Apple you should be golden. Apple's refurbs look identical (condition and packaging) to new units. Great deal.

Not according to the Overstock website. They say it's a 30 day warranty, (for the black or the white). If it were warrantied for 1 year by Apple you would think they would put that down. I certainly wouldn't count on a 1 year warranty. Also Factory Reconditioned seems to mean that this would be serviced by Apple, but the first FAQ below seems to include what I would consider a weasel clause. It looks like they might be able to apply the factory reconditioning statement to this product, (being serviced by a third party). I don't don't know, I am not trying to crap, I am just pointing out some things that appear ambiguous to me. What do you guys think? Might be best to actually call Overstock and find out for sure if it is indeed reconditioned by Apple and double check the 30 day warranty that's on their website. Just be careful guys and don't assume anything.;)

This is from Overstock's website about Factory Reconditioned:

How are products reconditioned?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Every product targeted for reconditioning must pass a thorough examination.
After repairing any defect and sanitizing when necessary, the product is repackaged either by the original manufacturer or a reputable professional outside firm may perform the reconditioning, returning the products to like-new or almost new condition.

How do I identify Factory-Reconditioned products?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We note these products on our site with an icon and the words Factory-Reconditioned.
When you see the Factory-Reconditioned icon, you know you're in for a great deal on a fantastic product!

Refurbished or Factory-Serviced, what's the difference?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You've looked around and perhaps seen the terms Refurbished or Factory-serviced. Various retailers use slightly different terminology.
Any item listed on our site as Refurbished or Factory-serviced meets the same factory-reconditioned standards listed above.

I have purchased two stereo receivers, three cameras, and a number of smaller items from overstock. I have found them to be quick and responsive. I had problems with two larger items I purchased from them. One, a stereo receiver ($800) had a damaged Optical Audio In - I called them and they overnighted me a replacement unit, along with the return shipping labels. I had a problem with a Toshiba Digital Camera, it began shutting itself off at inopportune times, about three months after purchase. I called them, and they no longer had any of the cameras so they refunded my money.

I have horrible luck with purchased items, whether from a brick and mortar store, or online/catalog order. I tend to receive items broken, or they fail within 6 months of purchase. When this happens, it can be very frustrating, but Overstock has always made it right for me. That is my opinion - I am sure some people have had bad experiences with overstock - but they have been good to me.

Have you heard of the free ipod offer? Basically you will need to sign up a trial membership of something for $1 and cancel it within 7 days with an email and you will get like $25 wal-mart or target gift card for the trial membership offer. On top of that you will have to refer 5 people to do the same thing. I have gotten a playstation 2 from this place before. I know some people will get up sad when they see this post and I apologize for that. I know referral is the difficult part but you need to do something in order to get their free staff. Please email me if you are interested. Thanks.
