I'm looking for a z170 board to OC an i5 6500 (BCLK). My budget is pretty tight and I'd like to keep it around $130 if possible.

Things I'm looking for:

Ability to OC with BCLK
m.2 support
USB 3.1
support for DDR4 3000 or better RAM

Maybe that's a tall order for the price. But any suggestions would be appreciated.

One option that has the above is the ASRock Z170 Extreme4. It has mixed reviews though and some report OC instability with the memory.

Thoughts?

Intel seems to be forcing mobo makers to disable BCLK overclocking, I wouldn't buy anything under the expectation of doing so.

What I would recommend is to save up a little more and buy a 6600K chip.

At any rate, with a 6600K chip in hand, I'd go with the ASRock Z170 Pro 4. You don't get USB 3.1 with that board, but it's really cheap...$110 on the Egg.

Ya, looks like I'll have to. I see today that asrock is removing SkyOC from their BIOS...no more OC'ing non-K chips. I really do want USB 3.1 though, otherwise that board looks OK. I'll have to keep looking.

Cool...you have the Extreme 4? Any issues with it?
