Recommended Video Cards for Call of Duty

I bought Call of Duty and of course my video card doesn't quite cut it. I have been looking for a new one anyway but I can't seem to find any good information on a card for this game. Does anyone have any recommendation for a reasonably priced video card that works well with Call of Duty? Thanks!🙂

I run COD well on a GF2 -- I wouldn't imagine you needing something top notch. How bout a 9600pro ?

get a geforce4 TI4200 128mb for about $80, nvidia rocks in the quake 3 based games and opengl

mine runs it fine with max details

NVIDIA runs OpenGL much better than ATI. I would go GF4 ti4200.

Yeah, or...yeah.

However, if you can't afford a 5900, then maybe a 9700 would be a better idea, as even they are faster than a 4200, with opengl.

I noticed they had a Powercolor 9800 SE...only did 60s in FPS in that game, while the 9800 pro did 160. 100FPS difference over just 4 extra pipelines?

Yep.

Also there are 2 versions of 9800se cards, I think one is only clocked at 325/580 instead of 380/680 so that accounts for the additional disadvantage on top the cripped pipes.

For 100 bucks you're going to have to make some IQ sacrifices to get the game to run well. Try a 9600/9600XT.

My 8500LE 128MB runs the game fine. It isn't perfect all the time, it starts lagging some when you got heavy action going on but if you want a very cheap card that will play it, the ATI Radeon 8500LE is an ok card. I would probably recommend a nVidia card since they run opengl best.

my 4200 has no trouble running it at a decent frame rate at maximum detail, but of course, i have a athlonx xp 3200 and a gig of ram

I have an ATI card myself, but with all of the driver issues ATI has had with that game, I'd have to recommend an Nvidia card if this game is your primary concern...

I've run COD on a intergrated Intel 845G.

Under $100-TI4200,FX5200,9200,GF3/GF4MX
I own a 128MB FX5200-very awesome environment detail in say, BF1942 with NVIDA Forceware 56.72 .

I forget, try a 9600 or find a 9800 on eBay. Agreed-NVIDA's CineFX (D3D) and OpenGL-in this case is well implemented. I got 6166 3DMarks (2001SE) with the DX9 capable FX5200-awesome with EA games.

What is your definition of maximum detail and decent? My 9700 Pro chugs at 1600 x 1200 on occasion and it's like three times faster than your Ti4200.

but of course, i have a athlonx xp 3200 and a gig of ram
I have a A64 3200+ and 1 GB RAM but at high detail setttings the GPU is the one that will be strained.
