recommended pagefile settings for 24gb ram with 250gb ssd win7 /win8.1?

so i got a new desktop and replaced the 1tb drive (using as external storage) with a 250gb ssd

other than steam+ games, just going to have a bunch of vmss (nonpersistent hd)
(to avoid even installing antimalware/antiviurs) for web browsing

should i disable pagefile or specify a 250mb pagefile on the ssd
(shouldn't have much disk write to ssd with all that ram and nonpersistent vm correct?)

thanks!

i suggest putting small page file on ssd and large one on the hard drive.

turning page file off does not work well always, and there's really no advantage to it.

i took out the 1tb drive into a sata usb dock to ensure no bottleneck
in fact researching ramdisk for steam cache

Ever since I went to 16gb on my last two systems I've completely disabled page file with no ill side effects thus far (4 years).

My system has 24Gb ram the page file is set 1024 on system ssd.
I use a 8GB ram drive with another 6144GB a page file.
I believe the page file refreshes the ram as needed and my pc sleeps so a page file cant hurt on any pc that's always on.

AFA I know certain programs (Photoshop for instance) require it. I am running 6 GB ram, Win 7 and have not needed one for 2 + years. I believe you can monitor the usage by opening resource monitor (resmon.exe) memory tab

I did not know that THANKS John3850

Just let windows manage it, Windows 8/8.1 use a different formula for pagefile, so it wont be a huge ammount of wasted space.

+1 Win8/8.1 does do a better job of keeping the pagefile smaller. On my 12GB of RAM workstation, it starts off at 512MB and grows at it sees fit. This is the same strategy I manually set with Win7.
