Recommended overclock of an eVGA 6800GT?

For those overclocking, what are you setting it to? Which program did you use? Also, what are the temps overclocked (mine is currently 60 degrees, stock, which to me seems high).

I have a BFG and my overclock right now is 410/1100 using Coolbits. 60C isn't high, I think mine idles around 63C and as far as I can tell doesn't exceed 80C even under load playing Far Cry.

Coolbits and the auto-overclock saved me a lot of tweaking, it produced settings just a little below what I run now 420/1080 vs 431/1100 mine idles mid 50's load is up to mid-high 60's depending on ambient room temp.

I have a PNY but all tthe cards right now are bascially the same I used coolbits2 and auto OC It gave me 425/1140 for a speed. I run it at just over Ultra clocks though. 60C is a decent temp at idle Mine is the same as DAPUNISHERS for temps though. idles in the mid 50's and for into mid to high 60's depending on if its a hot day not not.

I was at 426/1100 using coolbits with my BFG and thought it was doing fine idle temps 55C and 78C recorded load temp. Then it started artifacting and stuttering and the auto detect was still showing 421/1100 as optimum overlclock. I tried everything, disabling Fastwrites, different drivers, and this weekend a format and reinstall, but still, it just got worse.
Mine runs fine at stock now but it will not overclock by much at all and I'm wondering if the memory is damaged. It is more than likely just the card I got but I have been left with little trust for coolbits. As long as it runs fine at stock I'll be happy but I'm wondering if in fact the memory is failing on it and that it won't be long before I see artifacts and freezing at stock speed. Even so, I accept the responsibility of overclocking and if it dies, it's my problem. Still, I love this card and if I have to, I'll pay for another one. For the most part, people have been very lucky with their 6800 gts and most have no problem with getting Ultra speeds.

I have the evga, and am running it at 410/1100 presently, tho I have Water cooling on the core, and copper sinks on the ram. I havn't tried higher yet.
Interesting thing is, when I used the Detect Clock thing with coolbits enabled, it gave me 365/1070, go figure. I think that because I am running the core at such a low temp, it thinks I am over heating the core. My core temp at idle is 29 to 30c.

Man...I can't wait to get mine. To hell with Gateway and that X800 XT fiasco. EVGA's Step up program sounds pretty cool too 😉

I just overclocked to run benchmarks, then dropped it back down to stock.

At stock speeds, I have great rates in all of the games I play at this time, with eye-candy maxed. No need to even overclock the card yet. 🙂

Can you guys let me know what your 3DMark2001 scores were? I had over 11k in 2003 but my 2001 score only went up 500pts over my system with the 9800 Pro. Is there some bug with the new cards that I don't know about? I am using 61.76 drivers by the way.

My 3dmark01 score is only about 22500 at stock I never tried it OCed.

I idle at 60C @ 400/1.1 with my PNY. I've checked it a few times after about an hour of Far Cry at very high settings and it's never been over 68.

The way to accurately check your load temps is to download the program, rthdribl (sorry, don't have the link at the present), and run it while you have the temp window open. After about 10 minutes you should see what your load temps are actually running. The problem with checking right after gaming is that temps drop very fast.

im running at 420/1.2 idle about 60C (just like everyone else i guess) and about 80-85C gaming.

im using the 62.71 drivers... i cant play mafia or run 3dmark2001. Does anybody else have this problem? The error in 2001 is that i dont have directx 8.1 installed (i know i do have 9.0b installed). Suggestions?
