Recommended HDTV Buying Guide?

Just got a nice Xbox 360, and would like to compliment it with an HDTV.
Looking at probably a 42 inch (which I assume is a standard these days).
Any recommendations on buying guides or brands? I've heard samsung is nice, but a bit pricey.

I assume LCD is the standard over plasma.

Get a Vizio or Westinghouse 42" if you are concerned about price. Good deals to be had with those brands.

Plasma is cheaper the larger you go, and offers better overall image quality than LCD. What you choose, however, depends on your preference and the type of room that you will put it in.

Anyhoo, there's a new thread in here positing the same questions at least every other day. Go ahead and search around for them and do some research. Come back to this thread when you have more specific, or even new questions. Otherwise, the same comments are made over, and over, ...and over 😉 or...you can just bump one of those threads that is already loaded with the kind of info that you need.

also try AVS forums....but those threads tend to be monumentally long, so it's often difficult to parse the most salient information from those.
