Is 500 GB too much? Would a 250 GB HD for example be faster? I'm looking at the Caviar 500 GB, but I see reviews that talk about it being a storage drive... I don't really need a storage drive, I just want a quiet fast drive to play games on.... any recommendations or is the 500 GB fine?

If you have the cash, and are looking for performance go with a Raptor.

It really depends on what you need. Some people are fine with 80GB, while others need 1TB+ to hold all their data. I personally have 400GB total of space and need to buy a new drive soon as I am running out. Also, if all you are really concerned about is performance than the 150GB Raptor is a good choice. However, I don't think it's quiet (you'd have to ask people or read reviews though, don't take my word for it). If you want quiet and fast, I believe the Seagate 7200.10 drives fit this bill nicely.

I want to spend about 140 or so tops... and while I don't use up tons of space, I think a 75 GB Raptor would be a tad too small.. and anything bigger seems to hit the 200 range, which is a bit too much..
