Firstly..... Hello, i've just signed up 🙂

Ok, i've just bought myself an AMD Sempron 2800+ which runs at 2.00GHz. Now i'm looking for a heatsink and fan which is not too expensive but will run this chip at a really low temperature. At the moment it's running at about 52oC on full load. I've just got some crappy hs/f but I want something that will do the job a little better.

Thermalright XP-90 is the one I have bought. Ready to install when the new fan comes next week or I may take the one off the standard intel HSF if I can and test it out.

It has gotten AMAZING reviews so that is the one I wanted. Cheaper then the XP-120 and it will fit my mobo.

Yeh, my mates just put that on his A64 3500+. Tho when I saw it, I couldnt believe how big it was! I bet that thing could actually cool the whole PC.

The Speeze or Spire (same company) Falcon Rock (not sure whether your CPU is Socket-A or not) does a very good job without costing too much. I think they sell them over there.

Sempron 2800+ is SocketA yes? that would require using a Thermalright SI-97, not the XP-90 (S754/939)

Either way that's a good HSF too 😉

FWIW 52C (IMHO even up to ~60C) under full load is more than acceptable.

i'd have to agree with craigrt and go with the si-97. thermalright is just pure pwnage when it comes to heatsinks. as for a fan, i'd say go with panaflo. they have some nice 80mm and 120mm fans w/ high or low rpm. you take your pick.
