I'm looking to configure a 3-monitor setup. It's just for office style tasks so I don't need much power. I was thinking of using the CPU/mobo for one monitor then getting a ~$35 graphics card for the other 2 monitors, but from reading it looks like only certain motherboards can run graphics in tandem with a PCIx16 discrete video card. Though, it was unclear to me if with Haswell if it is still true that only certain motherboards can run both CPU-based video and discrete video cards simultaneously, or perhaps this is more common now.
My questions are:
1. What is needed to run 1 monitor off the motherboard and 2 off a discrete video card?
2. Is there a name for this feature to execute the goal in question 1? I could contact manufacturers specifically to see if they offer this feature, but it would help comparison shopping if there was a common name to rapidly compare across products.
In particular, I was thinking this motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128667
All help is much appreciated!
