Apparently his machine can't handle Flight Simulator X but doesn't have enough money to build a new machine. He's hoping vid card upgrade will help till he has the money to upgrade

BFG Tech BFGR78256GSOC GeForce 7800GS 256MB 256-bit GDDR3

But why spend more than you have to?

What's the difference between that X850PRO and this? The ability to unlock pipes on that one?

I don't know the difference between those, but if I was choosing, I would either go with the $140 X850pro or get the 7800GS.

Which is exactly what I want to do, but I wonder if my sempron 3100+ will hold me back and bottleneck a 7900GT?

I honestly have no clue since I'm a newb and don't know much about ocin, I hear it's a good ocer. I might be better off with an x850xt or 7600gt, but I see a lot of great deals on 7900gts. :)

If this is a viable option for you, then of course its a much better idea then throwing money at another AGP card.

Why ppl alway say the 7800GS is the best AGP card, while reviews shows same performance to the 7600GT.

However, how the x850xt ( or ulocked X850pro ) is compared to 7600GT / 7800GS , that I do not know..

And there's always the option to wait for the coming X1950PRO, which sould be released soon.

What do you guys think of that? His power supply is actually just 250 - will that be enough for any of the cards in the 7 series? Or that X850pro?

No, some very good 350W may suffice but 400W & higher is a good target, 250W is already marginal before the upgrade.

6800xt is crippled (though that better than some if it has 256bit bus), better to get 7600%% for similar price but the psu first.

You haven't said what graphics card is currently in the system, and that could be useful info (especially concerning PSU requirements).

I had a dell 250 in the system below with no overclock for a month and I got a new psu and case before it blew. I still have it and it still works. A x850 pro would work with that power supply. A Dell 250 watt power supply has a peak rating of 350 watts. They are good Psu's.
