Recommended dc project for win 9x

Hi, I would like to run a dc project on a win 98 computer. as it sits at the login screen most of the day, I would like one which runs as a blank screen screen saver. The problem is that win 98 doesn't manage multiasking very well, causing games to freeze for a split second every few seconds if I'm running a dc project in the background, such as F@H, or dpad. I have tested this on multiple computers, with multiple installs of win98.

So, does anybody know of a useful dc project(for example, no S@H, although I realize it has this feature)which will run as a blank screensaver? Remember, this is a 600mhz celeron w/~200 mb of memory(128 stick + 64 mb stick, + 16 mb stick, but, subtract about 8 mb for the integrated graphics)

Well, It looks like D2OL does this, so, I think that's the project I'll be working on.
Any other options for me?

At risk of sounding like a "broken record" - DPAD would fit your bill.

The client can be run in the background, and the level of useage set to meet your needs. :)

Our D2ol TeAm sure could use all the help we can get to stay in 1st place. I have it running on 3 Win 98 boxes with out a problem. My experence with it running on Win 98 is that it plays nicely with other programs if you have enough memory. Looking at your specs you may be a little on the low side but then again maybe not, I also have it running on a Win2k box that has 196 Mb of ram and it does fine but that box just does basic office apps. All I can say is give both a try and pick which one fits you the best.

so, I forgot, d2ol probably prefers faster computers...I do have a problem with dpad and win98, so, this is probably the time to ask it:
This was answered for me before, but when I wanted it again, it was too late, and it had already gotten purged from the forum archives.
Here goes...when I go to shut down the computer, it tells me that I have to shut down the ms-dos program before shutting down windows, and If I want windows to do it for me. I want it to every time, without asking me, but, I just can't get it to do so. I remember it had something to do with making a shortcut to a program in the windows folder, and modifying the shortcut's properties.

Any help would be appreciated

yelo333,

Go to the C:\Windows\System directory and find the "Conagent.exe" file. Right-click it on and go to Properties, then find the tabs that has the "Warn if Still Active" option, and uncheck this. (I've not got a Win98 machine here, so i can't check the exact info ;))

I've got a problem with dpad. I start the muon1_background program via a registry key to start it as a service, so it runs at the login screen.
But, when I logout, it shuts down dpad.SO, in summary, it runs at login screen, during first user's session, and then, it shuts down until I reboot.
Is there anyway to change this?

Thanks for the reply, but, This is a windows 98 machine, so that won't work. Any other ideas?

Upgrade to Win2000? That system will run it fine - maybe not quite as quick as Win9x but the stability and advanced features are worth it.
