Recommended cards for biz apps?

The small business that I am part of deals with LOTS of digital still photos (jpg format). We put these photos into VERY large (e.g. 40 MB) PowerPoint presentations. The photos average 500 KB in size, and there could easily be 40 or more in a report. We don't do any video work, so 3D is not an issue. So, what I would like to know is what is an optimal card for this situation? Do the expensive 3D cards provide a significant performance gain for a situation like this, or do the good 2D cards provide just as much performance? Card recommendations would also be appreciated.

I think ANY card or even integrated graphics on the market at the moment is more than good enough for what you are proposing. A faster CPU will be more important than the graphics card for rendering photos.

A high-performance 3d card will make exactly zero difference for you.

Matrox's cards should suit you well, and they are for a good price. Matrox has the best 2D out there. Faster CPU, and some good ram would help also. But if you're looking for a special card for just 2D applications, Matrox's G450 and G550 would be your best bet.
