Recommended auto transported [from Memphis to Seattle]

Hey guys,

I've found a new project car thats located in memphis, it's a pretty sweet price of only 12,000 bucks, but it was a theft recovery and will need some work done on it.

Namely the wiring harness for the HUD was cut, so the srs, ebrake and left turn signal light doesn't work and there is a small slash in the roof.. anyhow for the price it's worth it but right now I'm being quoted around 1200 bucks for shipping to Seattle.

I know thats crap because one of my buddies got is 300ZX shipped from GA to Seattle for 900.

Does anyone have any suggested auto transporters that I should get quotes from?

The ZIP is 37221

Are you nuts? You could buy a decent used one for $16-17k easily with no damage and a clear title. Probably less with a little haggling if you could find one private party. I searched Autotrader.com and found this for $14,900.

You are considering spending $12k plus another grand in shipping plus repair costs, including a new top which will be about $1k (total guestimate, I'll admit) so you're already up to $14k minimum not to mention the hassle. Oh, and I've had friends ship cars cross country and gotten them with slashed tires, broken glass and heard numerous other horror stories.

This is such a bad idea on so many levels.

I agree with JulesMaximus on this. You can get a clean title S2000 with ~ 75K-100K miles for $14,000-$15,000 on craigslist, with no repairs needed and far less worry about what kind of non-cosmetic damage may have been done to the engine, transmission, frame, etc. And you can probably get it right away, locally. You'll save lots of money and get a much better starting point for your project!
