I have done just about all that I can in terms of installing drivers and I still cant get 4X agp on my system to work. My last hope is to set the AGP driving strenght manually to get to 4X AGP. Has anybody had any luck with this card on an Abit Kt7 raid MOBO? What values do you use for the driving strength?

Thanks

I used to own that card. It has a jumper you have to set to enable AGP 4X.

edit: I sold the card to my roommate, and I'm not sure if he still has the instructions or not else I would have told you which pins need to be jumped. Oh well.

(18665) - What are the jumpers on the SpeedStar A90 / Stealth III S540 / S540 Xtreme for?
These jumpers determine what AGP mode the S540 will run at. The default setting for the jumpers is AGP 1X/2X, and these do not need to be changed unless you have an AGP 4X capable motherboard. Consult your motherboard documentation for information on what your motherboard is capable of.

Please refer to the addendum included with the card for specifics on the jumper settings.

The above is from the FAQ at Diamond. I forgot to copy the exact url.

I downloaded the pdf and it says to close JP1, JP2, and JP3. From the looks of what I read, you're probably out of luck as far as 4X working on your Athlon system.

I have the jumpers set to 4X position on the card. It still is not working.
Do I need to pull the card and reinstall after I set the jumpers or can I just leave the card installed and reset the jumpers?

Do I need to reinstall the drivers after resetting the jumpers?

funny thing; when I set the video drivers to the default VGA adapter to reinstall the s540 drivers I checked the AGP bus using CPUID
and it said that it was running at 4X..... But after reistalling the S540 drivers it reverts back to 2X... go figure..

I would pull the card and reinstall it. Also, you might check out 3dchipset.com for the latest drivers. I can't remember the url, but there was a fan site where I downloaded some custom drivers for the S540. They helped out fps in UT alot. I don't remember how big of a difference it made in Quake.
