Recommendations Please: Games released ~1997

Hey All,

Besides Fallout, my fav game of all time and maybe a older Civilization, what games are out there that will play on my newly aquired "old" laptop?

Specs:

p2 333
128mb RAM
2 or 4 meg ATi video
6 gig HD

Any recommendation appreciated!

My favs of that era were Age of Empires I and Terminal Velocity. Hellbender was OK but not that great. Also you can't go wrong with Lemmings

It's very good. Dark Forces, though, will knock you on your a$$.

Jagged Alliance 2
Planescape: Torment (up there with Fallout 1-2 for best PC RPG ever)
Baldur's Gate 1 & expansion, possibly BG 2 (meets specs at least)

Terminal Velocity was AWESOME.

The best game ever from that time period was Rocket Jockey. Had loads of fun with that game back in the day.

That'll run starcraft like a dream. May not be from 97, i'm not sure, but nevertheless a great game for that machine.

NICE...starcraft...planescape...baldurs gate...exactly the type of stuff I was thinking of...didn't play those back in the day...lemmings too, tho I have played that one. keep them coming if you have them folks...

Ya..I was thinking around 97 because I remember I had a PC with similiar specs around that time and I remembered playing Fallout and having it run well...

HOMM II and III should run great and are two of the all-time best turn-based games. Don't buy HOMM 4 by mistake though, it won Computer Gaming World's Coaster of the Year for its crapulence.

The early Command and Conquer games should run quite well on that computer I'd say.

Starcraft came out in 97, but I preferred C&C myself.

Yeah. I rmemeber when i first played dark forces. That is still the only game to give me nightmares. True i was very young at the time but damn was that game scary. AND HARD! The damn sewer part where those things came out of no where was very very annoying.

D2 and Warcraft 3 will run like crap I think...maybe d 2 on a really low setting...but I remember I had a Duron 650 with like 128mb ram and a budget video card once and it ran a bit choppy...Mechwarrior 2 is a GREAT idea!

HOMM will definetely get a run...so many good ideas

Strife one of the first rpgish FPS made. It's a great game (for it's time anyway) with a lot of comedy mixed into the dialog and 3 different endings.
