Recommendations on software for video capture and editing.

Hi,

I want to make my own vcds and internet video I was wondering what is the best and easiest software to use for a desktop pc. I want to be able to capture the video from vcrs, dvd, tv and digital video cameras. I also need a good audio capture software. I will be getting a Sound Blaster Live! platinum card for this, is that a good choice?
Going to be running Win2000pro with dual 800e intel cpus.

Also would anyone know what good Hardware will be need for these programs and what are the minimum system requirements for these programs?

I was thinking of getting a ATI Radeon or LeadTek Geforce 2 GTS 32MB graphics card and a dvd capture card but I don't know which any suggestions? I am leaning more towards the GTS because people have said it is well supported by Linux which I also want to run on this system.
My vcr and tv have s-video plugs on them but I don't know if s-video is a good choice for capturing and transporting video.

Any other recommendations as to what I need?

For capturing, I use WinVCR 2.0+ It does an excellent job of capturing VCD compliant video and does a very decent job at capturing MPEG-2

For editing, I use Ulead Video Studio. It's pretty easy to use, and does many effects. Depending on how professinal you want the videos to look will depend on which editor you want to use, though....
