Well I unfortunately installed the 30 day trial software for CS3 premium last year. I tried to reghost my computer and reinstall the trial to no avail. Now I'm trying to throw CS3 on a second computer of mine to see if I can open and edit some 40D files on the other computer before the trial runs out.

If all of that doesn't work, what cheap software do you guys recommend for editing and saving 40D files for the web and print?

Thanks!

Well the CS3 suite install on the other computer will work for 30 days... now to correct and convert these suckers as quickly as possible!

I used that RAW viewer in Windows XP, and it works fine, but it doesn't do JPEG conversions. For Vista, you need the specific camera maker's software or plugin. Nikon's was a small quick plugin that lets me view RAW files in Windows Explorer on my laptop, without ViewNX. My desktop has Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Lightroom, though.

... or instead of being dishonest, you could use the FREE SOFTWARE that came with your camera.

What About RAWShooter Essentials 2006? That was a decent freeware application. Wasn't Lightroom built on it? I know you can still find it for download.

Since it was bought out by Adobe and not updated since, I'm not sure if it'll support the 40D's files. In any case, DPP is a very good application.
