Need two pairs of decent quality of binocs for a trip to CR in 2 weeks...

Any recs?

Preferably, portable & less than $50

UPDATE: Alrighty, narrowed it down to two...

Olympus Tracker 8x25 - $59 + ship
- Smaller, Lighter, Cheaper (by 1/2), but i dunno how well this will work w/ glasses (only 16mm eye relief) and its not reviewed often. Porro Prism.

and

Nikon Sporter 8 x 36 - $119 + ship
- Heavier and larger, but likely a better PQ and easier to see w/glasses on thanks to its HUGE eye relief (20.5mm). Gets good reviews across the board. Roof Prism.

Get the heavest ones for the price and size. Get Jap optics. Decide what you want because different applications call for different glasses. You want pocket portability or great vision and tripod required? Makes a big difference in what you get. Remember that strong glass requires stability. At your price, I don't see you finding servo stabilized ones. I just got a set of Pentex pocket glasses from Unclaimed Baggage for 15 bucks that are very good. I have some Russian sets that are great, but heavy and hard to use free handed.

Were mainly going to be using them for birding and looking for monkeys in the trees. No need for any tripod mounts, just something portable, light, and good quality.

Some the nikon glass looks nice...

I am biased though, D70 owner :D

Hmmmm, Olmpus model for $59.99 w/ a longer eye relief (16mm, works better w/ glasses), or the Nikon model for $67.99 (w/ 14mm eye relief)

Of the two you selected, I would spend more money and get the Nikon. Did you happen to look at these?? They are slightly heavier, but they are waterproof/fogproof (where the Nikon is water resistant) and the optics are fully coated so they have a higher relative brightness. I have the 10x42 version of these and have been extremely pleased with them.

Well you wanted to stay under $50.. so I'd go with the cheaper ones (which are still over your preffered amount)
Edit: But if you changed your mind on the $50 thing, I'd go with the better ones

Nikon definitely. you'll really appreciate the eye relief
