I've really been eyeballing the CoolerMaster Wavemaster ($130.00)
http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=11-119-023&depa=1

Which bring me to a purchase I know nothing about which are power supplys. I used the power supply calculator and it seems I need around 340w....but should I go 400w to be safe? To be honest I want the cheapest one that has a good reputation..my budget is getting a little thin. So if anyone has a recommendation on that I would appreciate it..oh and if ya think the WaveMaster isn't a good purchase just say so I'm all ears. Will order tonight.

The specs for the computer I'm building will be

K8N Neo2 Platinum NVIDIA nForce3
Athlon 64 3500+
Corsair Value Select Dual Channel Kit 184 Pin 1G(512MBx2) DDR PC-3200
Geforce FX 6600GT
SB Audigy2
Seagate Barracude 7,200rpm Barracuda
NIC Card
Logitech Mx510
Plextor CD-RW
3.5 Floppy Drive

PSU is a crucial purchase in your system, like a mobo. With the specs you have, I'd assume you will overclock (even if you aren't, keep reading). Definitely get a brand name PSU (enermax, Fortron, etc), probably 70-100 dollars should suit your system. For overclocking, the amps are important, not necessarily the watts. 420W brand name PSU will outperform a POS 550W PSU any day. You'll probably want at least 24a (amps) on the 12v rail. Read this:

Bump. Get a psu with @ least 24 amps on the +12 volt rail. (I say this so much, I just highlighted it and copied it. I'll probably need to say it again).

Any quality 350+ watt PSU will be fine. Tagan makes a really nice 380 watt unit that would power your system well, it's just over $60.

stevennoland 24A is complete overkill for his system.

There is no overkill, just kill and kill and kill and kill and kill and kill and kill...

I have 33A on the 12V rails for my PSU... It's also a quiet PSU, which goes along with the general theme of my system... A 'sleeper'...

I love the wavemaster, gorgeous case.. but Sadly, it sucks for everything but looks. it's well built, but it's very drab and boring otherwise.
the PSU cage idea absolutely sucks, I can't fit my modular power supply into the case without modding, and the top mounted USB ports irk me to no end.. the drive bays, 5.25 and 3.5 are all basic and require screws, and the front door doesn't allow you to have any fan controllers as it will hit on the door and not allow it to close. cooling also sucks, very little room for air intake, and 80mm fans instead of 120mm..

It's a great looking case, but it really sucks... sad, it's one of the few cases I actually like the looks of. I went with a cheaper case with a tool-less design, and room for a 120mm fan in the front, and the rear. definitely not disappointed with my choice. cost me like 1/3 as much.

I have an Enermax 470w something or other I got from Newegg for 70 bucks, I can't seem to find it on Newegg's site anymore but the closest thing to it would be their 460w Whisper II (which might actually be it, I just can't remember...) but at any rate, it has fan control, and when turned all the way down it's pretty much completely inaudible, when turned all the way up its frequency is a bit higher than my case fans so if you concentrate you can hear it, otherwise it's a really quiet PSU. The 12v rail on it (or at least on the Whisper) is 33a, which is nice but still may be a bit overkill (or in Akira's terms, kill and kill and kill and kill) for your system. A good quality 350w PSU would work nicely.

For you you'd might wanna take a look at some of Antec's cases, nice cooling, quiet, and come with quality 350 - 370 - 400w PSUs.

Instead of the WaveMaster, at least take a look at the ThermalTake Tsunami. Ive heard it performs very well.

The Tsunami does have slightly better cooling, but I was looking at a Wavemaster (since Compaq now uses a wavemaster on one of their modles) at CompUSA the other day and, damn! It's so high-quality. The front door is like 5mm aluminum, makes a nice hearty CLUNK when you shut it to ensure that it is hard-hat material (the door is also magnetized shut). The rest of the case is also really nice, really thick aluminum and nice and original. The only thing I don't like is it old-skool 3x 80mm cooling. Man we need ta be rollin on dem dual-120s, bitch!

Anyway I just feel that the Tsunami is kind of a spinoff of the original WM. Still nice though, nice cooling, looks ok (but I hate the X-shaped window, doesn't match the flow of the case), and the quality ain't bad.

That case is overpriced and just out ugly compared to the WaveMaster.

it doesn't look bad.. but that's beside the point when it comes to this case, the functionality of the Antec is worlds above the CoolerMaster. they appeal to almost 2 different types of people, usually people who like functionality get the Antecs, but people who don't care get the Wavemasters... I am somewhere between both, so I got a really sweet case, and I have no idea who makes it.. but it is tooless, looks like an Antec SX600, and has 120mm fans front and rear. :)

It's a good case but not at that price. Just get a Cheiftech.

I have the Tsunami and it's a really nice case. It's quiet with the stock fans (less noise than my mom's compaq!) and looks great. The "quality isnt good" thing is BS. Yes, it's thin, but does that mean right away that it's of poor quality? It weighs about 14 lbs, has good airflow, is quiet, and for it's weight if very solid. Definitally recommended!

When did I ever say it was bad?
