Recommendations on a ~$200 digital camera?

Ok so I'm talkin to my friend on aim and she tells me she's lookin for a digital camera. She's looking to spend about $200 on it, give or take a few bucks. I have no idea about the quality of cameras. I've got a Fuji a101 i picked up from hot deals and its good for what i'm doing with it. But for $200 i'm sure she can do better. I've seen all those review sites (steve's digicams, etc), and we're looking over them, but instead of plodding through each review we were just wondering which ones might be the best to take a close look at. any ideas?

edit: just searched and saw a thread from yesterday with some recommendations for sub 300 dollar cameras. taking a look at those.

I would take a good long hard look at the Canon PowerShot A40 for $249 with 128MB CF card this week AND free shipping from OfficeMax.com or at OfficeMax B&M
