recommendations for relatively inexpensive tape-based backup system

I am looking for a relatively inexpensive tape based backup system for archival of web project that I do. I have outgrown my Zip 250 for most jobs, so a 15 gig+ ?master storage? tape would be good. I will also begin to offer, as a service to my clients, the ability to do offsite backups of their entire directory structure on their server (server is not local) on a weekly/monthly basis. Is there any type of software that will automate this process? What is recommended for backups? Should I use two different tapes on an "every other" schedule for doing backups to prevent data failure?

Currently, I do not have a SCSI capabilities on this computer, but I can add a card if necessary.

Tape is dead. If you're serious, IMHO you should be looking at some type of DVD-R format backup scheme. Much faster than tape (time is money)...

if youre going to do tape do scsi, I dont know of any ide interface that is fast enough for what you want, especially if youre going to offer this as a service

yea, thats pretty much what I was thinking. Though, I configured a Dell Server with a SCSI Travan DDS tape system and the transfer rate was something like 50 meg/sec. Can't IDE handle that speed?

Also if you do tape, don't do anything but DDS or DAT. Travan is utter crap. I've found Seagate tape drives to be the most reliable to date. HP's being pretty pathetic. Just my experiences... Wish there was a better (cheaper) solution than tape for 20+GB backups...
