I have a MSI MS7025 K8N NEO2-F Nforce3 and will be setting up Raid 0 on two WD 80GB (WD800JD). I was just wondering what do y'all recommand for the Stripe Size? My PC will be used mostly for gaming and small apps and some dvd burning (movies). I read a few things about it and people found if running small apps and gaming they recommand 4K, 16K, 32K, or 64K. Everything else they recommand 128K and up. What do y'all think. I will be playing most BF2 and games like that.

If you are working with extremely large files on a regular basis (multiple hundreds of megabytes and up) in a mostly sequential fashion, you want the largest stripe size possible.

For gaming and most apps, you want something more like 16-32K.

If you do not have a pressing need to change it, leave it at the default. Of course, I would also say that if you don't have a pressing need to do so, don't run RAID0...

Yea, I am going to try RAID 0 out and if it is a nogo for me then I will run the OS on one and Programs on the other. Thank you for the info!

Cool thank you.

I have another question. I have a modded BIOS right now and I would like to return it to an offical BIOS and then do the RAID and then install windows and then go back to the modded BIOS, would this mess up the RAID? Thank you.

It's likely it will still work as your actual RAID controller is the same. Often modded BIOSes update the firmware revision of the RAID controller or turn lite versions into full versions.

I was wondering something. I ordered two WD 80GB SATA so I can do RAID 0. I wanted to test everything out to make sure I know what I am doing. My question is do I have to have the two SATA drives installed before the option F10 is there to hit? Because I tried to hit F10 open reboot from the BIOS and nothing...

Thank you
David.
