I am considering upgrading to a dual CPU
motherboard and I am looking for any advice
that anyone might be willing to offer. Right
now, I have the ABit KT7-RAID which is about
to go through the window due to all of the
trouble I've had with it. Since I am
condsidering swapping, I figured I'd take
a look into purchasing a dual motherboard.
I have 256 MB of PC100 memory in a 128 MB
DIMM and two 64 MB DIMMs. I also have a
Viper V770 Ultra, Soundblaster Live Value!,
and 3COM Network card that I would like to
use.
I am looking for something along the lines
of a dual 600+ Pentium III config. I am
fairly flexible in terms of speed and I
am open to purchasing one CPU now and then
another down the road. Basically, I'm looking
for any recommendations for motherboards and
also places to buy the motherboards from. I
would like to get at least a 1 year warranty
if possible as well.
I am planning on running Linux, Windows NT,
and Windows 98 on whatever system I am building.
Basically, I am keeping 98 on for any older
games that I might want to play but quite a
few of the games I would want to play will
actually work in Windows NT as well. The main
boost I am looking for is in the simulations
that I will be running and various C compiling.
Thanks in advance!
