Recommendations for internet access in D.C.?

I'm moving to DC soon (8/1) and I'm going to need high speed internet access when I get there. Anyone have suggestions for good companies? Good service, good speed, good price? Or some combination of the above?

Will also probably get cable tv to better rot my brain... any suggestions there?

These aren't all local ISPs but I'm sure you'll find a few dozen cheap ISPs.

In DC, you will have better luck with DSL than cable access. Verizon is the phone company for DC, and DC Cable is their cable company.

If Verizon is the land-line company in DC, are they the preferred cellular provider there too?
