Ok, we bought a Toshiba lappy a few weeks back and the wife is bugging me to get an adapter so she can surf the net wireless both at home and on the road (seems more and more hotels provide free wi-fi). Any recommendations on what to get that works well (speed wise) and is EASY to configure? Our ISP is Verizon and we use a Westell Versalink Modem/Router Model # 327W that I use to connect two desktop PCs to the 'net. The lappy runs Vista Home Premium BTW.

I would think the laptop that you purchased has an 802.11 wireless adapter in it already. I do not know of any that do not ship without one now. Also, it looks like you have the Wireless version of the Westell modem/router so you should be good to go. All you need to do is configure it.

Well, the link to the laptop specs. states, Atheros 802.11b/g wireless LAN

I.e. you have a build in wireless. That why I linked you to the page above it starts with a "minor" suggestion "switch on" the Wireless.

Yes, I did visit the site you linked. I'll go through those instructions once I'm home w/ the lappy.

Thanks.

well, I gave up and called Verizon and the tech guy set everything up remotely. Turned out the Westell needed a f/w update but everything is up and running now.
