Recommendations for a PC steering wheel?

Hey folks,
What are your recommendations for a PC steering wheel? I definitely want one with pedals, and it'd be nice to have a shifter attached too. I don't care about force feedback.

The dominant model seems to be the Logitech MOMO, but it's kinda steep at $80. What other options are availabe? Or is the MOMO just *that* good?

Thanks,
-Eric

Edit: I don't own a PS2 or console system of any kind 🙂

That MOMO is ok. There used to be another MOMO which was way better.

If you have a PS2 you can use the DFP on the PC also. You just need a driver from the wingman team website. Plus it has the 900 degree rotation. 🙂 It's normally $130 but it's not so bad if it's going to see double use with your PS2 and PC.

Logitech has a new wheel coming out in a few months. It's pretty expensive though.

Get one with force feedback. It's worth it.

Edit-I have the Logitech force feedback wheel for the PS2 and it is the sh!t. I actually setup a driving chair with a frame you can mount the wheel to and set the entire deal up in front of the TV.

lol...really sounds like the MOMO is worth it.

The one with 900deg rotation sounds very appealing... but that's a bit too much for me. I coudl get a better video card for that money, lol.

Yeah momo is nice. Check ebay for some cheap ones. You may get one for $30 from this guy called etailsurplus. The catch is that the items are untested and may or may not work. But feedback shows that 90% works, and most that do not work are on fragile items like hard drives and what not. I got a Quickcam 4000 that retails for $99 for $0.99 + $10 shipping from him.
What games are you going to play with the wheel?
If you're a hard core racing fan, you should definitely check out GTR and Richard Burns Rally. You can download the demo for both.
GTR is an amazing track simulation. The sound is absolutely unbelievable. No game I've heard came close. Richard Burns Rally is the most realistic rally sim out there. The rally school is very good and Richard Burns himself will teach you pro rally techniques. The game's simulation engine is absolutely incredible. 🙂

Too bad the car models for RBR look like ass. 😛 Which is easily fixed by the 3rd party people releasing the new models. RBR is awesome, especially when you get the car all crossed up on fast corners. 😱

GTR sorta looks like crap compared to GTL... which is my current favorite right now.

Give rfactor a look too.

Well all of the RBR models are the old ones back when richard burns competed.
GTL is all old classic cars. I prefer GT fine tuned racing machines over the classic cars 🙂
rFactor is good too, but they did not license any cars, so all the cars are fictional.

I don't think I've ever played a sim with the stock car models since GP2 when I was 12. They all look like ass out of the box. lol.

3rd party

yeah rfactor looks like crap too since they don't have licensed cars but the driving model is awesome.

Here's how it looks with the JGTC/SuperGT mod:

czech: omg, that's pretty sweet 🙂

MasterAndCommander: too expensive... but those woudl be nice to have.

virtualgames: I want to play ColinMcrae05, GTR FIA, and GT Legends. I'll also check out the rally game you mentioned too--haven't heard of that one before.

I've always driven with a joystick (Saitek X52), and I wanted to try something new...

Question about the MOMO: my desk has a drawer--is the clamp on the MOMO large enough to acommodate that?
