for what you wanting it for i would suggest something as integrated as you can get (with onboard everything :) )

nforce boards are good, but they also cost alot and your not going to need good 3d

i would go with something based on the boards below
-via kle133 (socketA, sdram, supports all the new athlons, integrated sound/video/etc) newegg has a couple of them, one has onboard LAN
-via km133a (almost the same as the kle133, except is has higher quality onboard video "S3 savage 4") also costs a little more
-sis 730 (again very similar... the pcchips 810lmr comes with onboard sound/video/lan/56k modem
-sis740 (once again its very similar... the big advantage to the sis740 is that is supports ddr ram)

my personal choice for a budget board would be the pcchips 810lmr or the amptron 810lm (both sis730, both almost identical, both have onboard sound/video/lan/bundled with a amr 56k modem) and both are very small

here are a couple links, but you can find alot more
amptron sis740
amptron sis730
gigabyte via km133a
biostar via kle133 i actually have an extra one of these boards if your interested send me a PM
