Samsung makes great little laser printers which are getting much love these days. You can grab one for around $150. I'd gladly replace mine with a small combo fax/laser if they made one.

I also recommend Samsung. Just picked up their latest budget model, the ML-1710 for $185, and it prints great quality and quite literally spits out prints (17ppm). If you do some looking around on the net, you can find the older model, the ML-1430 for about $130 after rebate, which is almost identical except for the design. Either way, Samsung makes some great laser printers.

Although Samsung makes some great laser printers at low prices, its multifunction devices (printer/fax/scan/copy) are very poor in quality. Samsung makes a bunch of them but do not sell them in the U.S. (AFIK) probably because they know they can't compete with others (HP, Canon, Epson, etc.) in the multifunction dept. These multifunction devices are sold in Korea where there's little foreign competition. Samsung had (maybe still do) adopted HP's technology in building the multifunction devices but haven't caught up with the rest of the competitors like they have done with laser printers, yet.

Don't discout ebay, either.

I got a 'low mileage' jobber with duplexer and dual 500 sheet trays for a little over $230.
