Recommendations for a good heart rate monitor?

I'm thinking about buying one for my gf because she's such an exercise nut. I don't know anything about them but would prefer something small that she won't mind wearing on the treadmill for an hour and won't get in the way of her workouts.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks for the help guys. I ended up picking up a Polar M52 for $113 (shipped) off of Ubid after reading the reviews on epinions. I just hope it doesn't go the way of the Palm I bought her for Christmas...
