Recommendations for a box for DSL with static IPs?

I have a network with 10 machines with static IPs, from the DSL provider. That means the IPs are not internally assigned by any router. I want to set up a firewall for this networking, placing it between the DSL modem and the switch. I have tried a SnapGear box with no luck. I spent countless hours on the phone with them, making sure the settings were correct, but I still can't get multiple machines onto the Internet when the hub they are on is behind the firewall. Can someone recommend something they know works?

Thanks for any help.

It sounds like you're looking for dedicated hardware, but I have an OpenBSD rig in that situation - more complicated actually, since I have a third leg with NAT. In any event, BSD/Linux should be able to do this if your DSL modem supports bridging - switch it to bridge mode and let the *nix box handle the PPPoE.

Unfortunately, I'm supposed to set up this box and leave it for the people who actually own the network with my documentation of the network. So, no *nix solutions.

I can't say for sure without trying the situation itself but I don't have easy access to a place with 10 Static IP's.

Anyway, all I can do is suggest trying a Zoom X4 combo DSL Modem/Router, it some very powerful Networking functionality built into it's software interface with the Router portion of it.

Can't hurt to try and it is very easy to document it's use.

Good luck
