Recommendations for a 500 dollar computer

I have a neighbor who is looking to spend 500 bucks on a general purpose PC. He has no experience in building machines so he would need something already assembled. The computer is going to be used primarily for business but the occasional gaming might take place. I agreed to help him in the future with any upgrades (he wants the option of upgrading the memory and video card). The only other requirement would be a modem, but I guess those are so cheap these days it might make sense to just buy one and install it later.

u can possibility go low end core 2 duo if u use arock board and 4300 processor. The beaty of asrock bpard is that it can reuse a lot of old technoogy but still very good performance

not bad, with the exception of the monitor it's not really needed.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of rig can be built for 500 if this were a custom built box?

Sell the monitor, buy a PCI-E video card = gaming rig.
