Listening to all the advice here and on other sites, I bought a 40GB Intel SSD as my Windows 7 boot/OS drive and it has been great. But there's a big problem. While it's possible to install Windows 7 on the drive and have it fit, it leaves very little room. From the start, I moved My Documents over to another drive and I make it a point to install all programs to a different drive as well. However, it's impossible to keep the SSD completely void of data. For example, some programs, even installed on D:\ will write files in the Users folder or AppData or \Windows. You can't stop it.
I know it's possible to do some symlinks or hacks to move these folders over, but that only works when you first install Windows. And sorry, I just don't feel like doing all these hacks.
So I'd like to upgrade my SSD. I don't want a wonky drive. I want something as reliable as my Intel SSD. I think the model is X25-V. I have a pretty old system so I don't have SATA3. I wouldn't be able to take advantage of that.
What would you recommend I get? And I am ok with waiting if newer/cheaper drives are on the horizon or if there'll be an imminent price drop. Speaking of, I have been reading rumors of such a drop before Christmas. It's almost July now. Did I miss it or is it not happening?
