I'm looking for a 19" CRT monitor. I'm using this as my starting point. Any particular ones that I have missed or should take into consideration? I am surprised that neither the Compaq P910 or Samsung 900NF show up here, however when I checked the reviews both monitors had already been deemed unworthy of the top 10 listing.

Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

The Samsung 900NF is definitely good monitor. PCWorld just plain sucks. Other good ones are Sony's G420s, and Conerstone's P1460 (not sure about the model number, I just pulled that one off the top of my head). It would help for suggestions if we knew what your focus is. If you are using it for reading text, then get a shadow mask. If you're using it for gaming, then get an aperture grille. All of my suggestions use aperture grilles.

I would be using the monitor for mostly reading text, and some gaming.

Thanks for the warm welcome, btw.

I've been using the Samsung 955DF for a while & I have no complaints :D The 900 NF should be a great monitor :D

I'm happy with my Viewsonic P95f

I'd like higher refresh rates at 1600x1200, but 92Hz is ok. It does up to 1920x1440@77Hz.

$299 + shipping. Not bad.

Buy the 900NF.........great monitor, great price!:) Sony's are definately good, but, you're paying a lot just for the Sony name...............the 900NF is you best bet IMHO. I have 2 of the 1200NF's and love'm!

I bought the 19" Envision monitor from Staples and I must say, it is a really nice monitor. I have my refresh rates set pretty high along with my resolution and my pictures are crystal clear. I paid $227 for it.

JoPalm yep the NEC MultiSync FE950+ i got in black and its a very nice montior!!!!!!! Games look a lot better on it the picture is very nice for everything. I got a really good deal for my NEC MultiSync FE950+ at bestbuy for only $274! Then i got this like 3 year warranty in bestbuy so if anything goes wrong with it they will get me a new one! Sony montiors i looked at in bestbuy were good but to tell you the truth for $399 to $499 the Sony 19 inch montiors were not as good as the NEC MultiSync FE950+ 19 inch montior.

I would say buy the montior locally and if you can find the NEC MultiSync FE950+ at your bestbuy then get it! I got mine because i was lucky because bestbuy does not sell NEC montiors. They only come with alienware computers they told me. I know you can buy the montiors separately but bestbuy does not do that. But sense bestbuy got like another montior for the alienware computer in the store they had one left over so they were selling it and thats why i was able to get a NEC MultiSync FE950+ 19 inch montior for only $274.
Remember is always better to get a montior locally than over the internet. Why you may ask? Well #1 the shipping charge is expersive for a montior when you buy it online, #2 if it breaks you have to pay for a high shipping charge to send it back to get a new one, and #3 you get to look at the montior in the stores to make sure you like it because everyone likes a different kind of montior. One montior to one person may be fine but to another person it may be horrible.
