Recommendations for 1080p High Settings gaming?

Hey all, I recently had my 980 Ti taken away from me in a blaze of it's own eternal glory, so I'm wondering now what would be the best option for gaming. I play a lot of AAA titles at high to ultra settings, and 60fps. I don't want to spend a lot of money, so I'm kind of thinking mid range second hand cards but I know there are a lot of them out there. I am going to do my own research as well, but feedback from people that actually use mid range GPUs is really helpful.
