Recommendation: Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit vs 64 bit

Hi,

I am planning to install either vista ultimate 32 or 64 bit on my pc. My pc spec is enuff; I just want to hear some justifications on either options, which one is preferrable 32 bit or 64 bit?

Pls advise. Thanks

64 bit if you have 4gb of ram or more, or plan on upgrading to it. Otherwise I doubt there's a real reason to go with 64bit. But, you've got both anyways with Ultimate, so why not install 64x, if it gives your major trouble, get rid of it and install 32x.

Check compatibility with your software and devices. If everything works, go with 64-bit.

Most hardware out there has both platform drivers available, if they offer Vista drivers. Hardware probably isn't going to be the issue. The vast majority of applications work fine under either platform of Vista. Considering 4 GB will be the norm during Vista's lifespan, unless you have a specific incompatibility, I'd go straight to x64. I had Vista Ultimate x86 and upgraded to x64 once I got my full 4 Gb of memory, and haven't looked back. If anything, it's a bit snappier than the x86 version was.
