My friend has a PIII machine he wants to play Counter-Strike on. He doesn't want to spend a lot of money. What is a good budget video card he can buy that will good enough for Counter-Strike?

Pretty much any videocard will be great for CounterStrike. TNT Ultra will work fine. Any Geforce card is overkill for CS.

I would get GeforceDDR or Geforce2 GTS. A regular RadeonDDR is good too. Get 64MB versions.

edit to 32meg versions.

$40-50 will get you a used GF3, $50-60 a new 9100. Though I suppose $20-30 will net you a used GF2/GF4MX, and those should also do fine.

Yep, any of those should be fine. Just depends how cheap he wants to go.

If your friend doesnt end up getting it : There is a special guide for changing models/settings to something that even PII can run. Its called something like "xxxx's high FPS guide" or something. if anyone knows about it, please share :)
