Hi.

I am quite interested in using a RAID configuration.

I'll be using Raid 0.

I was curious to whether any of you out there could help recommending me to a good RAID card.
Does name brand have any advantages? are there major quality differences between individual name brands?

I will not be using Raid 1 or Raid 0+1. Only Raid 0.

Also, I use UDMA100 drives and not Serial ATA or SCSI.

Thanks

Raid cards are so expensive its almost better to just buy a new mobo with onboard ide raid - but maybe there's a difference in performance- not that i know of though =)

While hardware raid cards are very pricy. I would suggest going with a software raid card. I recently replaced my Promise (niece got to it) raid card with a Silcon Image SIL0680 software raid card I picked up for $17 and it runs just as well. I get 67mb max 41mb ave transfer rates with two 5400rpm 2mb 40gb maxtor's, and that is actually more than double what they did alone.

As for name brands, I went with the cheapest I could find, from a reputable online store, and got this Card
