what's going on?

i'm looking to build a computer that can handle videos, shows, graphics, games, etc. I haven't had the need to research a new one until now, so i'm kinda behind. nothing too intense since i dont plan on overclocking it. its more for everyday use.

i was looking around and saw that the abit nf7-s was a popular board and the price is around my budget. approx $80-90. i also perfer an AMD Processor due to the costs.

i have an older msi motherboard for myself that i found pretty reliable. would you recommend msi or abit? any there any other recommendations??

i can provide more information if you need it.

thanks!!

I usually think the place to start is with cpu, and some would argue some of your intended uses are better handled by a P4. But, you already stated you want a AMD, so yeah I'd recommend the NF7-S (see my sig). I think they are a bargin at $80-90 too.

Add to that a Mobile Barton. Get at least PC3200 ram as you should be able to get that mobile up to 200FSB. Check over in the CPU forum for more info. So much to tell...

I've had good experiences with Asus and wholeheartedly reccomend them to anyone. Currently using a NForce2 A7N8x board that's been reliable from the start. Couldn't ask for anything more for $50...

Thanks for the reply everyone!
I had to change my login name to this one, so i was using "jtao". For some reason I lost the email with the pw before I had a chance to change it and I was unable to reset my pw. So i'll be using this one.

quick questions and i apologize if its really basic.
Is there a big diff btw non-ecc and ecc ram?
Is there a big difference in the Mobile Barton and regular? I don't plan on overclocking.

Since this is more for family use, I was thinking the Asus mentioned below, which is the A7N8x, may be a better option and I may get the NF7-S for myself. Does anyone have any pros/cons against the A7N8x. I understand they are different price ranges.
Thanks again for your help!
