Can anyone recommend me a good Fortran 90 book, I am going into EE in the fall and I want to get a head start on Fortran. It would be especially great if it was a book oriented for undergrad engineers. I am going to Rutgers University and maybe someone knows what book is used into the Intro. to Computers class at the college of engineering. I have programming experience in VC++,VB,and QBasic. I would realy appreciate any input you have related towards this topic, so no neffs please :) .

Thanks,

Wow, 58645 members and no one knows? There at least has to be one person that could give me a name of a good book.

I wrote many many lines of code in FORTRAN77 when I was doing simulation software. Our reference books were provided by the vendor, Gould. A few people had commercially available FORTRAN books at their desks. Too bad I can't remember what they were. Gosh, that was a long time ago. FORMAT statements... Ugh!

I really have nothing worthwhile to add to this thread. I just feel sorry for you.

Viper-Frag:

If you already know some Fortran, this book is excellent:

Upgrading to Fortran 90 (author Cooper Redwine)

If you are new to Fortran, this one would be better (particularly for a young engineer like yourself):

Fortran 90/95 for Scientists and Engineers (author Stephen J. Chapman)

Unfortunately, these large-format paperback books are hellishly expensive, so you may want to look for used copies.

Good luck at Rutgers! It's a fine school.
