Hey guys,

I am going to purchase 2.6C and P4P800, and looking forward getting at least 3.25@FSB250 (Of course MMMV). Since I am going to run with 5:4 divider, if it can handle around DDR420@CL2, that would be good enough. I did some search, and found Winbond doesn't like 865/875 divider, but that's all the information I could get. (I tried motherboard forum, but it's even awfully harder to gather information) So, which budget RAM would you recommend?

Oh and BTW, anyone experience with memory from hardcorecooling.com? It seems like they have pretty good deal, but all generic it seems.

Thanks for your time reading this, have a great one :D

Get some buffalo bh-5 chips they will run ddr400 with 2-2-2-5 timing and much cheaper than corsair or kingston stuff.
make sure you get the bh-5 chips if they are still available.

BH-5 is Winbond BH-5, lxie. Hey, man, why not get some PC3700 or PC4000, then it won't have any problem running tight timings at 420, plus it will go in your next system.

pc3700 ram that can do 2-2-2-5 timing @ 3700 speeds is really expensive i think ocz gold maybe?

PC 4000 chips wont' let you run low timings and also more expensive
at least from my experience.. i had some kingston hyperx pc4000
@ ddr500 they would only work @ 3-4-4-8
@ ddr 400 they would only work @ 2.5-3-3-7
I posted about this last month when i got great deal on kingston ddr 500 ram and ended up returning it in favor of the buffalo. Most users advice me the buffalo was better.

Thanks for your replies, guys.

Camofrog, I honestly don't want to put myself in trouble with buying at ocsystem. It seems like they have pretty bad things going about them, especially their own stuff.

Ixie and myocardia, I thought about Winbond BH5, but there are few opposite thoughts about it. That's why I couldn't decide. And well, PC4000 and PC4200... I don't think I want to spend bunch of money for that and don't believe they are for the future either, especially I usually don't upgrade for two or three years after making one. (I bought P2 400 in 1999, then upgraded to Duron 2001. Then upgraded to T-Bred in 2003. This one is exception because my brother at home need a new comp, so I will give T-Bred to my brother, and I am building one for myself now. So, next expected upgrade will be 2005? :p Maybe DDRII at that time?)

Then how about this? DDR420@CL2.5? Then there might be more choices out there, I guess?

the bh-5 chips will do that too.

my buffalo bh-5 do 420 2.5-2-2-5 .

Your not going to get cheaper memory that will do 2-2-2-5 @ ddr400

I mean you can get ddr420 2-2-2-5 guranteed chips like mushkin lvl 2 black but it cost a lot more.

You should really read this before buyign any memory.

Personally, everydae, I think you should go for the Buffalo also. It's very good ram, to be so cheap. You realize that alot of people will complain about something, only to find out later that the problem was something different. We don't ever hear back from them about it, because they don't want to admit how wrong they were. BTW, I haven't heard anything at all about Winbond BH-5 chips with the Intel chipsets. Where did you hear this?

edit: You may have a very hard time finding some Buffalo with BH-5, because once everyone found out about them, they sold out really quickly. Newegg has Buffalo, with the CH-5 chips, and the people who have bought them seem quite happy with them (supposedly getting over 200 at CAS 2).

I've been informed that Buffalo PC3700 512MB w/Winbond Modules ($99 @ newegg.com) use BH5 chips, I'm in the market for cheap 5:4 200MHZ ram also, why don't you order 1gb and let me know how it goes?:)

that was just a cheap example of a place i've looked at.
I've never bought any thing there.
there really is a lot of places to get things.

usually can compare at www.pricewatch.com
but i would only buy from a reputable company.
