Recommendation: NEC EA231WMi vs. Dell U2410

After considerable research, I have narrowed my quest for an external display to the NEC EA231WMi & the Dell U2410. Although certainly neither are perfect and each has their own strengths & weaknesses, I need just a little bump to make my final choice.

I would appreciate your candid thoughts & recommendations.

The following should be helpful:
PURPOSE: The external display will be used exclusively for photo imaging editing (Photoshop Elements) & print matching.
COMPUTER: MacBook Pro 2.4GHz (late 2007).

If the price difference isn't too great a factor (sometimes the NEC EA231WMi falls to $300 US or even less, which makes it awfully compelling, even with 230,400 fewer pixels), then I'd recommend the Dell U2410. Since your intended function is directed towards print photography, the wide colour gamut of the U2410 will be an advantage rather than an inconvenience. If you're using Mac OS X, dealing with colour profiles for a wide gamut may be less painful than in Windows as well.

Now you've simply to hope you don't get a dodgy panel from LG.Display!

I agree with your comments. I assume your reference to the "dodgy panel" refers to the green/pink tint that some owners have experienced.

If I may....one question. The NEC has an 8-bit internal LUT & the Dell a 12-bit. In terms of real-world color management, how important is the difference?
