Recommendation: Good 3rd Person 3D Game

I just built my first system (P4 1.6a/512MB PC2100 RAM) and am looking for a good game to try my system out with.

I do not want a first person type game as they make me nauseous. I'm looking more for a third person 3D type game. I don't play games usually and my system is not really built for it. For the record, I have an ATI AIW Radeon 7500, Audigy Platinum, and Logitech Z560 speakers.

So...I'd like to get some recommendations to put my system to the test.

Thanks!

<< Play hitman, codename 47 because it's fun, allthough nothing too impressive with graphics or sound. >>

And impossible to beat. 😱

A version of Giants: Citizen Kabuto came with my Gladiac 920 and I swear that is the most addicting game I have ever known. I luv it to death. Also Max Payne of course.

Yeah, Giants Citizen of Kabuto is a good one, and intro movies are funny as hell 🙂 Also, if you like girls who kick ass - you might try FAKK2 😉

PS didn't like Max Payne though, reminded me of cheap hollywood action crap...

Halflife (counter-strike)

What part of third-person did you not understand?

OK, so it wasn't necessary for me to post this...but y'know...

I asked for some ideas before I went to bed and you folks delivered!!

Thanks for the suggestions. I wish I were able to play first person games (Deus Ex came with my soundcard). I remember way, way back when the original Wolfenstein was released (maybe 10 years ago). I got physically sick playing it. Expendable came with my videocard; however, it is a "lite" version. I finished it in short order.

Max Payne seems to be pretty popular with the folks that responded. Maybe I'll go with that one unless there is some compelling reason to spend my money on something else.

Well what are you doing posting this? Get down to the store and buy Max Payne!! If they're not open yet...consider breaking in. 😀

But if you are looking for some pretty graphics to show off your video capabilities the best I have seen on my computer is the "nature" test in 3DMark2001SE. You can download it from CNet. Amazing stuff.

Max Payne

and for great 3d graphics in a truly (superb) mindless shooter, Serious Sam, SE has an option for 3rd person view.

I just downloaded the Max Payne Demo (130+ MB - thank goodness for cable modems!). It is pretty cool! I'll likely head out next week and pick up the full version.
