i'm using amd xp1800+ processor and the highest temperature it will go is 50 celcius. is that ok? i'm currently using thermaltake fans but i would likre to improve on it. so is there any recommendation for a quiet and cooling fan?

That seems ok. I have the same setup, but with a high airflo Panaflo 90mm fan blowing cool air towards the stock AMD HSF, and I get around 45C.

Yes they say it does. Your 50c is fine but if your interested in lowering your temps look at lowering your case temps with some case fans at least 1 in the front blowing in and 1 in the back sucking out. I'm using a Volcano 7+ with artic silver on a 1800XP running at stock speed and my CPU seldom breaks 40c at medium fan speed. But I have 3 fans in the front and 2 in the back plus the power supply fan and my system temps run between 27 and 30c. Also look at the vents in front of your case fans, in most cheaper cases the holes are very small and restrict air flow.

your temperature is just fine
as2/as3 will drop the max load by a bit (usually 5c or so is a good guestimate)

are you using the stock heatsink?
if so i doubt you will find any 60mm fans that are quiet...they all have a whiney sound to them at high speeds/cfm

80mm fans have a lower hum to them

some 80mm heatsinks:
swiftech mcx462
alpha pal8045
(cant remember company) ax7 (just do a google for ax7, you should find what you are looking for )

/edit
also at www.newegg.com there are LOTS of case fans from all different companies, have a look

The AX7 is by Thermalright...

Frankly you have a perfectly acceptable temperature, and unless you're doing some serious overclocking, or experiencing any hardware instablity, you shouldn't be too concerned about that temperature.
