Hi, the fan on my card dies & instead of wading through with a warranty replacement I thought I'd just get a new cooler. The only game I play is WoW. Does anyone have suggestions for one that won't block other slots on the board?

Alternatively, I could replace the fan but I haven't found one that looks like it will fit. Any suggestions as to where I could buy just the replacement fan?

I've never really gone VGA cooler shopping, but I'd imagine it's more like people don't know of any same slot cooling solution...most are going to take up a second slot.

If you in the end can take up the 3nd slot, then Artic Cooling or Zalman are good looks, though there are a lot of products out there....they just take up a second slot.

I wish you luck...

The Thermalright HR-03 can be mounted on top of your card, taking up space above rather than below(using the heatpipes as a wraparound deal). This probably depends on your card to a great deal, but it seems like it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

...There's always the old Vantec Iceberg or somesuch(remember using one on an older card), but I'm not sure that could move the heat generated by your x1950.

Granted, I don't have either cooler, but the stock cooler on my x1950 XT also seems to be dying out, so I'm planning to pick an HR- 03 up here within the next couple days here...

An HR03 or an Accelero S1 may be viable choices for you. But to be honest I have a x1950xt and even the S1 would get intensly hot which also made my ramsinks hot to the touch...so I'd prob RMA it. Even the stock cooler on mine isn't adequate b/c without direct air my card crashes.

The 1950XT is a much hotter card than the Pro.

As for what kind of cooler or fan you want I suggest you call the nice folks at frozencpu.com. The store is local to my area and they do a lot of business online. They actually supply microcenter with all of their cooling parts.

This is not an ad, I don't care if you buy from them or not, in fact their prices are quite expensive. But their staff is very knowledgeable.

Thanks for the suggestions. It appears that the Thermalright HR-03 may be the best solution because of the wrap-around. This cooler seems to be one of the best around as well.
