Recommendation for DVD burner

I am looking to get a DVD burner early next year (after my hopes of getting a multilevel CD-R have been crushed), and I wanted to get some recommendations. I am not really concerned to choose between +RW and -RW, as I won't use the DVDs in stand alone players a lot - it's rather for data storage.

Also, is it worth it to just get an OEM version, and supply something like Nero 5.5 oneselves? Seems to be the cheaper option.

I have the Sony DRU 500A and it works pretty well. I can only rip DVDs at 2X with it, but a new firmware just came out that lets me burn +R at 4X. Its nice that it burns both -R and +R, because neither format has won out yet.

I use Nero to burn DVDs, the software that came with the Sony drive is awful.

Thanks - that helps a lot already. Guess I am looking at an OEM version.

Reading will probably be done through my dedicated DVD-ROM, so that's not a big deal.
