Recommendation for a notebook tool kit?

I love magnetic tip screwdrivers. Very unlikely to damage anything inside a computer with one, unless you physically stab and scrape traces off PCBs.

However, I do not like screwdrivers with changeable tips. I hate 'em! Even worse are the ones that have changeable tips as well as flexible/angle heads. It just feels... disconnected.

You have to remember that the hard drive itself has very powerful magnets in it, so the small amount magnetism that the screwdriver has is not going to affect anything.

And, the HDD is shielded. Mag tips only cause harm when directly in contact with unshielded devices. If you want to not use mag tipped bits or drivers, you can use regular ones and put a small dab of chewing gum on the tip. That will hold a crew in place.

This reminds me of something that happened to me back about 1987. A friend dropped off an old 5.25" floppy at my house - and when I came home from work, there it was pinned to the fridge door with a small magnet! 🙂

Nope! Lesson learned - wife received remedial training in disk management. (Then I kept a low profile!) 🙂
