Recommendation for a good fighting type game (like final fight/double dragon) for the PS2?

i'm giving in and going to get a PS2 (it has the most games i would be interested in). probably the $250 bundle at toys r us that comes with xenosaga: episode 1 and dbz: budakai (?), and a extra controller.

i'm wondering if there are any good fighting games similar to old school games like double dragon, or final fight. something similar to Fighting Force for the PS1? thnx 🙂

I was going to say Tekken but wrong kind of fighting game...don't know of any DD/FF type games, sorry 🙁 State of Emergency is kind of like that but it's rather dull after a while

yeah, i was looking at state of emergencys' reviews. got "ehhh so-so" ratings.

Yea - it could have been more but it wasn't. It came out on XBox recently, for $20 I wouldn't mind picking it up. (Might be worth it for $20 on PS2 as well) Of course there's GTA3 if you haven't gotten that already for PC

You could try the Bouncer. Its made by Square. Its fairly short though so you may just want to rent it.

I've really missed this type of game, as it brings back great memories of Die Hard Arcade. 🙂

The last "old school" beat-em up I played was one of the Gauntlet titles on N64, although I heard Hunter: The Reckoning brings this type of game to the XBOX.

Actually, Tekken 4 has a pretty fleshed out "final fight" type bonus game named "Force Mode" that is pretty fun if you're interested . . ..
